Following an inspection in April 2026 Victoria Marsden, deputy director of adult social care in the north, said: “When we inspected The Glen Private Nursing Home, we found an exceptional service where staff and leaders worked hard to provide the best possible care. Every person, whether staff, colleagues from other organisations, people using the service, or their families, felt genuinely heard, respected, and treated with kindness.

“It was positive to hear the service treated people as individuals and was exceptional in how they made sure people’s care, support and treatment met their needs and preferences. Many relatives spoke highly about the care their loved one was receiving. One person told us that their relative is really happy at the home, so their family can finally sleep at night as they’re not worrying about them. The person used to need a lot of support from their family, but they don’t need this now, so they can spend quality time together when visiting.

“Staff were exceptionally kind and caring and took pride in their work. The service had many long-standing staff members and morale was high. Staff told CQC they enjoyed their roles and felt very well supported.

“Staff developed positive relationships with people and their families which enabled them to be more responsive to their changing needs.

“Leaders and staff should be very proud of the findings in this report. It’s clear the service was committed to treating people as individuals and empowering them to achieve their goals and lead fulfilling lives.”
