Freshers Week is finally here, and Sheffield is ready to welcome students back for another year. 

Sheffield Hallam University kicks off Freshers Week from 13–20 September, followed by the University of Sheffield from 20–26 September. 

Whether you’re starting university for the first time or returning for another year, Sheffield has plenty of events happening across the city from student nights, live music, quizzes, festivals and shopping events for you to get involved in.

Freshers Street Rave
Kicking off Freshers Week on 13 September, Milton Street, located in the heart of Sheffield city centre, is shutting down for an indoor and outdoor rave experience with over 3,000 students, ready for the biggest freshers party the city has ever seen.

North vs Midlands vs South Sheffield Freshers Bar Crawl
On 20 September, Sheffield is bringing students together for one of the city’s biggest nights out. The idea is simple – represent where you are from! Whether you are a Northerner, Midlander or Southerner, you will be able to show off your roots round some of the biggest venues in Sheffield.  

The crawl runs from 8pm until 3am, visiting most popular clubs including PopWorld, Tiger Works and Hallamshire Hotel, finishing with a massive takeover around West Street. Get your mates together, pick your side and prepare to take on Sheffield Bar Crawl.

IKEA Student Night
IKEA Sheffield is welcoming students on 21 September providing students the opportunity to explore affordable furniture, homeware and storage solutions, while getting involved in an IKEA escape room, Swedish sampling station, plant pot decorating and a tannoy giveaway. 

The evening is also action packed with chances to win freebies from brands including Wagamama, PureGym, Unit and The Light. Whether you’re moving into student accommodation, preparing your room or living with friends, the evening is a great way to pick up some University essentials while adding your own personality to your space.

The Big Fat Quiz Molly Malone’s
Put your general knowledge to the test at the Big Fat Quiz at Molly Malones on 22 September. Every Tuesday at 9pm Molly Malone’s transforms into a quiz central for students with huge prizes up for grabs and an unbeatable atmosphere. 

With free entry, this venue offers a relaxed evening of competition and entertainment. No table bookings or tickets required, it’s completely free! Students are encouraged to arrive early, as seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis. 

Bongo Bingo
Bingo but in a way like no other. On 12 and 19 September, Sheffield is combining the familiar format of bingo with a crazy mix of dance-offs, rave rounds, music, entertainment, games and a range of prizes including the legendary pink Henry Hoover. This high-energy atmosphere makes it a popular choice for students looking for something different during freshers. 

Rather than solely focusing on bingo lines and your number calling attendees can expect an evening of interactive entertainment, energetic performances and opportunities to win silly prizes. Bongo Bingo provides an opportunity for students to socialise with friends, meet new people and enjoy an entertaining night out.

Meadowhall Job Fair
Looking for a part-time job alongside university and your studies? Taking place on 29 and 30 September, the Meadowhall Job Fair brings together employers from across the shopping centre and leisure destination giving students the chance to discover current and future vacancies and speak directly with potential employers. 

Whether you are interested in retail, hospitality, customer service, management or flexible part-time work the fair offers you a chance to meet face-to-face with employers.
