Four days of craft beer, food, music, independent culture, limited-edition artwork and a North vs South beer trail across one of Sheffield’s best-loved independent streets.

Abbeydale Road Beer Festival 2026 returns from Thursday 30 July to Sunday 2 August, bringing four days of craft beer, food, music and independent culture to one of Sheffield’s most distinctive neighbourhoods.

Now in its fifth year, the festival has grown from a local beer trail into a four-day celebration of Sheffield beer, independent venues, food, music and community. Sheffield has long been recognised as one of the UK’s great beer cities, and Abbeydale Road Beer Festival brings that reputation to street level, celebrating the pubs, bars, breweries and independent businesses that keep the city’s beer culture moving forward.

Organised by Abbeydale Traders Association, this year’s event forms part of Sheffield Year of Beer 2026 and will bring together 20 participating independent venues across Abbeydale Road, made up of 15 Beer Stops and five Wild Card venues.

This year’s poster and imagery has been created by Sheffield artist Mila K, whose artwork will feature across festival posters, stamp cards, table talkers, limited-edition prints and official festival t-shirts. Limited-edition Mila K t-shirts are available to pre-order now, guaranteeing your preferred size, with a limited number also available from Festival HQ over the festival weekend while stocks last. Mila K will also be creating a mural live during the event at Bare Alternative.

The 2026 theme is North vs South, with each Beer Stop showcasing one northern brewery and one southern brewery. Visitors will be invited to discover breweries from both sides of the country, compare styles and decide for themselves which comes out on top.

Participating venues include The Broadfield, The Gin Bar, Simz, Two Thirds, Corner, Abbeydale Ballroom, Abbeydale Tap, Over the Yardarm, Cole’s Corner, STYR, Abbeydale Beerworks, Dead Donkey, Rum Keg, Amici & Bici, The Bear, Mavi Ruya, Nether Edge Pizza Co, YAMM, Best Boy Bagels and Gravel Pit.

To complete the challenge, visitors must collect 15 stamps, including at least 12 Beer Stops, with up to three Wild Card venues counting towards the total.

Completed stamp cards can be exchanged at Festival HQ in Abbeydale Ballroom for a free exclusive limited-edition Abbeydale Road Beer Festival print featuring original artwork by Mila K. The first 12 people to complete all 20 venues will receive a signed and framed Mila K print.

Alongside the beer trail, visitors can expect food, live music, DJs and entertainment across the weekend, including activity in the Abbeydale Picture House car park and a special Voodoo Jazz session at Cole’s Corner on Sunday 2 August, with more announcements to follow.

Nicole Jewitt, Chair of Abbeydale Traders Association, said: “Abbeydale Road Beer Festival has grown because it belongs to the road. This is not a beer festival that happens in one venue. Abbeydale Road itself becomes the festival.

“People move between pubs, bars, cafés, restaurants and independent businesses, they discover places they might not have visited before, and that spend stays with local businesses.

“Sheffield has a brilliant beer culture, and Abbeydale Road has one of the strongest independent trading communities in the city. Bringing those two things together during Sheffield Year of Beer feels like the right moment to make this our biggest festival yet.”

The festival is free to take part in, with visitors paying for food and drink at individual venues. Venues will operate their own opening hours across the weekend.

Everything visitors need to plan their Abbeydale Road Beer Festival weekend is now live at ARBF.co.uk, including brewery line-ups, venue guides, maps, event listings and official festival merchandise. Limited-edition Mila K T-shirts are available to pre-order now, guaranteeing your preferred size and saving £2.50 off the festival price.

Abbeydale Tap & Snap

Chris Shenton has seen plenty of changes on Abbeydale Road since first opening – as Volpe – in 2016. A community has now sprung up around him and he’s now an integral part of the annual Abbeydale Beer Festival.

After rebranding to Abbeydale Tap & Snap just over five years ago, Chris has employed the services of artist Tom J Newell to design a new logo which complements a revamped look at the venue, including an improved outdoor terrace area.

Abbeydale Tap & Snap opens Wednesday to Sunday and has 12 rotational beers on draught (ten keg, two ales) as well as ciders, cocktails (2 for £12 at certain times) and spirits.

The range focuses on mainly independent breweries as well as Spanish and Dutch beers.

You’ll find the small, independent bar at 367 Abbeydale Road (between Abbeydale Picture House and Cole’s Corner).

Over the Yardarm

In the heart of Abbeydale Road’s buzzing bar scene, Over the Yardarm is a neighbourhood favourite with a relaxed, unpretentious vibe.

Named after the old nautical saying for “it’s time for a drink”, this cosy spot is known for good drinks – especially their cocktails – and good company.

“I first heard the expression when working for a brilliant chef called Simon,” recalls owner, Alfie. “Around 2 o’clock in the afternoon, on Sundays, Simon would ask the bartender if the sun was over the yardarm. This meant he was ready for his ice cold beer to help get him through the last few hours of his incredibly long working week.”

Over the Yardarm offer a carefully selected bar snacks menu and also regularly host exciting kitchen pop-ups, showcasing a variety of guest chefs and unique menus.

Events include everything from Taco and Tapas Takeovers to Open Decks Nights. The venue also has an upstairs private bar available for hire and an outside terrace to soak up the sun during the summer.
