A rare guitar crafted from The Leadmill’s original dancefloor and signed by legends of Sheffield music has been presented to its new owner following a hugely successful fundraising prize draw.

The Leadmill is pleased to announce that Lara Disco has won the very special guitar, designed by Sam Deacon and signed by Arctic Monkeys, Pulp, Richard Hawley, Def Leppard, Bring Me The Horizon, The Human League, Milburn and Reverend and the Makers.

Lara was invited as a special guest to Joe Carnall Jnr’s soundcheck at Yellow Arch on Saturday 6 June, where she received the guitar from The Leadmill team.

Speaking about winning the prize draw, Laura said: “Honestly, I was in complete shock when I found out. I never entered expecting to win. I genuinely donated because I wanted to support The Leadmill”

Lara, a lifelong Sheffield resident, has had a connection to The Leadmill for more than two decades.

“The Leadmill has been part of my life for over 20 years. I think I was around 14 when I first started attending gigs there and it quickly became one of my favourite places.”

Only six of these signed dancefloor guitars exist. This prize draw is the latest in a series of fundraising efforts, generating well over £10,000 from hundreds of generous supporters to help The Leadmill secure a new home following its forced eviction last year.

Lara added: “Winning the guitar means so much because it feels like owning a small piece of Sheffield’s cultural history rather than simply winning a prize.

“The soundcheck experience itself was amazing. Being able to watch a band perform in such an intimate environment is something very few people get to experience. It felt incredibly special and something I’ll remember for the rest of my life.

“Everyone involved made us feel so welcome. We were looked after from the moment we arrived and I can’t thank everyone enough for making it such a memorable day.”

Further exclusive items and supporter opportunities will be launched in the coming weeks as part of the ongoing efforts to safeguard a future venue for grassroots music.

A Leadmill spokesperson added: “We’re thrilled to hand this very special guitar to Lara. It represents a piece of our live‐music heritage, and we’re delighted it’s going to someone who truly values what The Leadmill stands for and the world‐class artists this amazing city has produced. We also want to thank everyone who entered the prize draw. Every donation is vital in helping us find a new home and bring The Leadmill back to music fans.”
