Sukhothai South Parade has officially reopened following a major refurbishment, unveiling a transformed interior and updated menu.

The relaunch marks a new chapter for the South Parade restaurant, which has been part of the Leeds dining scene for more than 13 years, while the wider Sukhothai brand celebrates its 24th anniversary this year.

As part of the refurbishment, the entire upstairs dining area has been redesigned, creating a more atmospheric and intimate setting for guests. The new look includes a transformed bar area with high-top seats, updated lighting and stylish new booths and seating areas. The fit-out has also been delivered in collaboration with local interior designers StudioTwo, bringing a distinctly local touch to the space and celebrating the creativity of the region.

Alongside the refreshed interiors, Sukhothai has also introduced a new menu featuring an impressive collection of new dishes, served alongside the classic fan favourites that Sukhothai enthusiasts have loved for more than two decades.

Menu highlights include new additions such as the Khao Soi, a coconut yellow curry noodle soup originating from Northern Thailand; Massaman Short Rib – tender slow-cooked beef in a rich, aromatic curry with potato, roasted peanuts and warming spices, and new seafood additions including Gung Mae Nam Pao (river prawns), a popular Thai grilled seafood dish served with traditional seafood dipping sauce, fresh oysters with traditional Thai condiments and a new Seafood Platter with soft-shell crab, crispy squid and grilled prawns.

Guests will also find a host of much-loved signatures on the menu, including Satay Gai, Pad Thai, Tom Yum soup, alongside Sukhothai’s classic green, red and Panaeng curries.

Ban Kaewkraikhot, executive chef and owner of Sukhothai, said: “When we opened Sukhothai in Chapel Allerton in 2002, my dream was to bring real Thai cooking to Yorkshire – the flavours, the ingredients and the feeling of eating in Thailand. That’s something that has always stayed at the heart of what we do. With the brand turning 24 this year, and Sukhothai Leeds city centre turning 14, it felt like the right time to give the site a refresh and create somewhere even more special for our guests. We’ve made it more intimate, more beautiful, but still very much Sukhothai.

“The new menu includes some of my personal favourites, such as grilled river prawns and fresh oysters, alongside the dishes our customers have loved for many years. Everything is still made with the same care, using authentic ingredients and inspired by the recipes I grew up with. We’re looking forward to welcoming guests into our gorgeous new space!”

The restaurant’s experienced team will remain unchanged, led by general ganager Tui, ensuring the same warm service and authentic Thai hospitality that guests have come to expect.
