Orchard Square has announced an exciting lineup of events to kickstart Christmas celebrations this Thursday 20 November.

Working in partnership with BBC Radio Sheffield and Classic Sheffield Orchard Square is inviting everyone to join their Christmas Launch Party from 5pm to turn on the Square’s Christmas tree lights and welcome the festive season.

Entertainment on the evening includes a Community Christmas Sing Along hosted by Classical Sheffield, home to a wealth of talented choirs and musicians bringing more music to more people across the city. Visitors can expect to enjoy – and partake – in Christmas carol classics.

Guests on the evening will also be treated to FREE mince pies, with mulled wine on offer PLUS, between 4-6pm kids eat free at Sheffield Plate, the bustling food hall within the Square, showcasing a breadth of lip-smacking global street food all under one roof.

Ellie Colton Breakfast Presenter and Elliott Green Producer at BBC Radio Sheffield, partners and compares for the event commented: “We are so excited to host the Orchard Square Christmas Launch Celebrations this Thursday; with Classical Sheffield, kickstarting the season of festive events that are taking place throughout December.

Back by the popular demand this year in the Square will be the Cheap Dates Terrace Sleigh Bar, serving dedicated festive tipples and cocktails.

Orchard Square will also be hosting two North Pole Post-boxes again this Christmas. Letters and envelopes can be collected from a selection of participating retailers throughout the Square, before writing and posting them in the special post boxes, which will be delivered to Lapland ahead of Christmas Eve.

Between 24 November and 21 December, Orchard Square joins the Mission Christmas activation in partnership with Cash4Kids and Hits FM. This inspiring initiative seeks to collect gifts for children in need within the local community. Visitors can donate new and unwrapped gifts to the dedicated donation boxes located in the Square.

Plus, Orchard Square’s Christmas Makers’ Market will be taking place on Saturday 29 and Sunday 30November this year, featuring a fabulous and festive selection of handmade gifts, local crafts, and delicious yuletide treats.
