Tina – The Tina Turner Musical will completely blow you away! A roller coaster journey through the most incredible life of superstar Tina Turner with its extreme highs and lows, this performance is breathtaking and evokes a whole host of emotions.

Almost as soon as the curtain rose, we were whisked away to the humble beginnings of the artist in Nutbush Tennessee, where Tina, as only a young girl, faced the rejection of her strong-willed mother and the separation of her family. In the next scene, teenage Tina emerged, where Elle Ma-Kinga N’Zuzi began her stunning performance, which would last throughout the whole production.  With an awesome voice and vocal range, she passionately and powerfully led us through the story, capturing beautifully the essence of who Tina Turner was and her terrible struggle with physical abuse and racism. The show was so full of energy and spoke volumes through drama, music and voice.  I was amazed at how well the chaos of 10 years of life was portrayed as Tina (Elle) performed the song “I want to take you higher”. The highs were illuminated with the power of sound and movement and the lows were filled with a tangible quiet and starkness.

The whole cast, orchestra and creative team produced a stunning job of an awesome musical, originally written with Tina Turner herself. Filled with many of her hits of a career which spanned more than five decades, it appealed to people of all ages. Some particularly relating to her earlier songs of “River Deep Mountain High” and “Proud Mary” and others being taken back to hits like “What’s love got to do with it” and “Simply the Best” from the 80’s. It was visibly apparent that everyone thoroughly enjoyed the quality of sound and performance by their abundant cheers and claps. Finally, to finish the evening off perfectly, we were all treated to a “sing and dance along” and the auditorium was filled with an energy which reached the heights. Incredible!
