A city known for its creative culture, Sheffield has an abundance of incredible artists and creative spaces displaying unique and interesting work for the public to enjoy.

Millennium Gallery 

Bringing the very best art and design to Sheffield, Millenium Gallery is an iconic space full of a variety of unique and creative work. Art from across the globe is celebrated throughout, with specific collections highlighting Sheffield’s astonishing artistic talents and cultural history. Sheffield’s Metalwork Collection is amongst the finest in the world, with over 800 examples of cutlery, flatware and tableware that made the city famous, as well as beautiful objects collected from every continent. 

Cupola Gallery 

With over 300 artists works on display across a full range of disciplines, Cupola gallery is one of the most respected contemporary galleries for the sale and exhibition of fine art and craft in the north of England. Situated on Middlewood Road in Hillsborough, Cupola has a wide range of art to enjoy, including a stunning sculpture garden, craft gallery and a variety of solo and group exhibitions. 

Site Gallery 

Close to BBC Radio Sheffield and the Leadmill in the city centre lies Site Gallery. The Brown Street gallery specialises in moving image, new media and performance-based art, and is instantly recognisable by it’s iconic ‘everything is different today’ sign. Sheffield’s international contemporary art space, Site Gallery is a cultural hub for unique, modern creations, and a perfect visit for art-lovers. 

Graves Gallery 

Just across from the Millenium Gallery, you’ll find the Art Deco home of Sheffield’s dazzling visual art collection. In 2021, the Graves Gallery began a five-year programme of redisplay generously supported by the Ampersand Foundation. Each year, 40% of the displays are rehung, allowing visitors to enjoy even more of the city’s collection.  

Street Art 

You don’t have to visit an art gallery to enjoy the incredible art scene in Sheffield, a quick wander around will have you spotting some phenomenal street art, both new and old, by talented artists such as: 

  • Joan of Arc by Elle Koziupa on London Road 
  • Now Then mural by Rob Lee on Howard Street 
  • The Snog by Pete Mckee at Fagan’s 
  • Jo Peel mural on  Upper Hanover Street 
  • Reverie by Peachzz at Pound’s Park 
  • Be alf time soon mural by Luke Horton on Penistone Road North
