BOOKS

Form is a selected group exhibition at Cupola Gallery featuring the work of 45 artists from across the UK, each responding to the exhibition’s open and deliberately ambiguous title.

Spanning a wide range of disciplines, the exhibition brings together a rich diversity of approaches and materials. Works include a large-scale sculptural textile wall relief, representations of the human figure, reclaimed and repurposed metal and wood, pastel and line drawing, ceramics, and both abstract and figurative mixed media painting. Photography, body adornment, and objects that combine humour whilst challenging functionality further expand the dialogue around “form.”

Karen Sherwood, Director, explains: “A deliberately ambiguous title for an exhibition opened up an opportunity to show a diverse array of work under one theme, clearly exposing the breadth of materials and approaches taken by artists.”

Highlights of the exhibition include the Brontë sisters reimagined as a punk band, a silver ring composed of tiny skulls, photographic studies of brutalist architecture, and glass vessels titled The Shape of Sky. Other works explore the transformation of everyday objects—remodelled and subverted to challenge their original function—demonstrating how artists interrogate “form” not only as physical shape, but as material, concept, and evolving subject.

All works are available for sale. Form is at Cupola Gallery until 25 April.
